Six Months Ago...

Six months ago I was glad to have finally gotten my independent research project signed off. Now I'm excited to share with my readership that since my last post, I have advanced to candidacy. For those unfamiliar with the lingo, I am ABD--all but dissertation. This is a big deal. Really big. The next steps to graduation by June 2008 are as follows: complete dissertation proposal, collect data, analyze, write dissertation, defend, walk across stage with special doctor hood-thingie. In between these tasks I plan to present my work at three national conferences, go on the job market and secure a tenure-track assistant professorship and move to a new town. I plan to do all this in less than fifteen months and not lose my mind.
