Reasons Why SB is Not All It's Cracked Up to Be...
Reasons Why SB Is Not All It's Cracked Up to Be, In No Particular Order:
1. The dating scene, or lack thereof. It's a regular gripe on the local Craig's List. Unless you are under 22 or make six figures, you're fucked. Actually, not really. And that's the problem.
2. General cost of living: one bedroom with functioning toilet=$1000/month, sixteen gallons of peanut oil from no-name gas station=$55 (plus 45 cents if you charge or debit it), etc. etc.
3. The people. I'll leave the locals alone for now, so the focus is tourists. From everywhere. Clogging the streets and blocking the sidewalks. Go away. We don't need your money. It's not like this is Vegas where citizens reap the rewards of no sales tax. Because of visitors we get shitty service and can't find anywhere to park.
4. A gillion restaurants and still, nowhere to dine. It's either take-out for $15 or Chez Louie's for $80. Can someone please bring a chain to town? I like "Eating Good in the Neighborhood" too...??
5. Shopping. Saks is four blocks away, but the nearest Target? Thirty-five minutes down the 101. How badly do you need that lightbulb? It's only six bucks at the grocery store!!
I can hear you now, "Oh, but Hootah, you live near the beach!" (See #3) "And that great strip--what is it called--State Street?" (See #5) "You can't beat California, right?" (See #2) "It's gotta be super fun being young and single in a place like that!!" (See #1) "I bet you have your choice of dining in such a trendy spot!" (See #4)
Grrr.
